Polka Dot Tots is the collaboration of best friends, Jes Schneider and Jen Arbogast. While in job training together 5 years ago the two formed a bond over lunches and what else but...the mall! Their passion for shopping took a turn toward the tiny side with the birth of Jes and her husband Jim's baby, Lily (the adorable tot on the home page!) Instead of the normal mall stores and pricey boutiques it was Gymboree and Baby Gap. With the inevitable depletion of working hours, the escalating costs of a little one, and a dwindling economy everyone realized there had to be a better (cheaper) way! Sure, there was the typical consignment store where they paid out pennies yet charged too much- not to mention all of the digging through worn out, stained clothes. What if there was a place where people could bring their children's outgrown yet still high quality clothing, shoes, accessories, toys, books, DVDs, furniture, equipment, nursery items, and maternity wear? Families could set their own prices and keep 70-75% of what their items sold for- all while shopping for the next surge of growth spurts at a fraction of the prices they would find at the mall!
